Growing up in an Air Force family, Joey lived overseas in Okinawa and Japan for 8 years as a child. After a stint in the Army himself, he settled back in Sacramento to pursue his education in illustration. He earned his BFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Comfortable with any medium, he primarily uses acrylics for its versatility. If you look long and hard enough at his work, you'll never know what surprises you may find within the paintings.

A Californian at heart, he currently resides with his wife and four children in the Chicago area where he enjoys watching his children grow. It's their world that inspires all the humor he finds in everyday life.
